Sustainable Finance Officer

BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation, is looking for a policy officer to reinforce its financial services team to work on sustainable finance from the consumer perspective. The appointee will report to the Head of Financial Services.
The tasks of the position will include to:
- Contribute to BEUC’s efforts to tackle greenwashing in the sector of financial services;
- Support BEUC’s advocacy work on sustainable finance, in particular the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation;
- Work closely with BEUC members to better understand consumer needs and awareness about sustainable investment options;
- Prepare responses to consultations, position papers and technical briefings on these issues;
- Represent BEUC with the media, in public events and relevant stakeholder groups;
- Maintain and develop contacts with EU officials, MEPs and other relevant stakeholders.
The main qualifications we are looking for are:
- A University degree in finance, economics or law;
- At least 3 years of successful professional experience working on EU finance policies, including sustainability related aspects;
- A good working knowledge of the EU institutions and legislative process;
- Excellent writing and presentation skills in English are essential; proficient knowledge of another European language is an advantage in both written and verbal communication;
- A strong understanding of capital markets, consumer finance, as well as a solid grasp of EU consumer and market law, is highly valuable;
- Experience in cooperating with the European Supervisory Authorities and with an EU wide member network is an asset;
- Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds;
- An effective team player, demonstrating curiosity, autonomy and resilience under pressure;
- Demonstrated proficiency in organizing tasks and attention to detail to meet deadlines;
- Strong networking, interpersonal and communication skills.

- A full-time 24-month fixed term contract with a competitive gross monthly salary in the indicative range of €3,679 to €3,912, depending on experience;

Hiring process:

- The first round of interviews will take place in the week of 25 November 2024, possibly via videoconferencing, with the Head of Financial Services and the HR Officer;
- A second round of interviews will take place the week of 02 December 2024.
From 1st interview to decision, it will take 2 weeks, and the starting date of the contract will ideally be in January 2025.
